    大连理工大学城市学院经国家教育部批准成立于2003年3月，是东北首家按新机制、新模式设立的独立学院，是大连理工大学和大连松源企业集团合作创办的新型普通本科院校。

    学院地处中国十大最具经济活力的滨海城市——大连，校园占地826亩，建筑面积26万平方米。学院各类办学设施齐全、先进，为学生创造了一流的学习和生活条件。

    学院根植于大连理工大学，由大连理工大学全面负责学院的教学和管理。学院充分发挥大连理工大学的综合办学优势，根据社会发展的实际需求设置专业，目前设有电子与计算机工程学院、管理学院、建筑工程学院、外国语学院、艺术与传媒学院等5个学院，55个本科专业（方向）。学院面向全国招生，2007年在校本科生7600余人。学生毕业后颁发大连理工大学城市学院毕业证书，毕业时符合学士学位授予标准的，将按照国务院学位委员会、教育部有关规定授予学士学位，即“独立学院按照国家有关规定申请取得学士学位授予资格，对符合条件的学生颁发独立学院的学士学位证书”。

    学院依托大连理工大学雄厚的师资力量、丰富的教学资源和先进的管理经验，积极开展教育、教学改革创新，注重优良学风建设，采用“宽基础+精专业”的创新人才培养方案，面向学生，服务社会，致力于培养高素质应用型人才。

    学院全面贯彻党的教育方针，治学态度严谨，办学特色鲜明，坚持“以学生为中心、理论联系实际”的办学理念，积极进取，不断创新，努力实现“建设一流环境，实施一流教育，创办一流学院，培养一流人才”的办学目标，打造社会知名的品牌专业，把大连理工大学城市学院建设成为国内一流的新型独立学院。

Approved by the National Ministry of Education, City Institute, DUT was founded in March 2003. It's the first independent undergraduate institute in the Northeast of China, practicing a new type of management and operating system which is run together by DUT and Dalian Song Yuan Group.

City Institute is located at one of the ten modern and vigorous economic coastal cities-Dalian, covering an area of 826 Mu, with the building area of 260,000 square meters. Moreover, our complete and advanced teaching equipment offers students a first-class studying and living condition. 

DUT is in charge of City Institute’s teaching and management. Fully taking the comprehensive teaching advantages of DUT, City Institute sets up the disciplines according to the requirements of social economical development. At present, there are 55 undergraduate majors in 5 different schools, including School of Electronic and Computer Engineering, School of Management, School of Architecture and Engineering, School of Foreign Languages, School of Art and Media. Up till 2007, we have had 7,600 undergraduate students from all over the country. After graduation, students will be awarded the diploma of City Institute, DUT issued by our state, and those qualified students can also be awarded their Bachelor's Degree.

Based on DUT’s abundant teaching staff, teaching resources and managerial expertise, City Institute fully practices teaching reform and innovation, focuses on good study style construction, and applies the innovative talent-cultivation principle of “Wide Range of Basic Courses+ Selective Range of Specialized Courses”. Our students-centered, society-oriented principle is to cultivate all-round talents.

With full implementation of our Party’s educational principles, careful and precise teaching attitudes, and outstanding characteristics, our institute insists on "Students-centered Learning, Theory-Based Practicing" teaching ideas, achieving the teaching goal of “building a first-class environment, undertaking a first-class education, establishing a first-class institute, cultivating a first-class talent”, and actively developing City Institute, DUT into a brand-new high-leveled independent institute in China.
